He Makes Me Lie Down in Green Pastures...

In 2011 as part of my training to become a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America I spent a summer as a hospital chaplain. One of the requirements of the program was to serve as the on call chaplain for the hospital system. You never knew what kind of situation you would find yourself walking into. So many of us wondered what we would say in the midst of the painful situations we would find ourselves walking into. Often times there were no words to offer, just our hearts and our presence. But one of the few things that we could share that seemed to hold up in almost any circumstance was the words of Psalm 23.

LAGUNA PARK has been dry for a few months, but with the small amount of rain and pea-sized hail that fell Monday night in Littlefield, only a small pool of water is showing in Laguna Park Tuesday. Littlefield was under a severe thunder storm warning for the evening, along with other counties across West Texas and a few in Eastern New Mexico. (Staff Photo by Joella Lovvorn)
