To the Patrons of Littlefield ISD: Fall is certainly in the air! With the arrival of cooler temperatures, it is time to begin thinking about our bad weather protocols. These protocols are what we do in case we have to make any decisions about altering our school day schedule because of the weather. I do not foresee using these protocols in the next couple of days, but I wanted everyone to be familiar with our processes.

I will always try to make a decision regarding cancelling or delaying school as early as I can on the affected morning, and then we will get the word out to everyone. We will communicate any school closure through our normal communications methods – phone message, email message, social media, the district website, KZZN, and the local media – Channel 11, 13, and 28. Please remember, if you do not hear from me, we are business as usual.

In reference to our daily bus routes and inclement weather, parents need to be aware that, especially during the morning routes, we could be facing cold weather and bad road conditions. In the event our drivers are slowed by road conditions, please make sure your kids are not waiting too long outside for the bus to arrive. We will do our best to be on time, but the kids could possibly be in the temperatures that are not conducive for them to be outside, so please plan accordingly. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Germ Blast came in last weekend and cleaned and sanitized our buildings. LISD will take every proactive step to keep our students, staff, and patrons safe.

The Primary had a great turnout at their annual Fall Festival. Families were charged $ 5.00 for kids to enter and have unlimited game play time. Grade levels set up games in the cafeteria, hallways, and music room for kids to play and win candy or prizes. Other activities were pumpkin painting, cookie walk, photo booth fun, free cotton candy, raffles for grade level themed goodie baskets and an opportunity to put a pie in Ms. Sumner’s, Bo Bryant’s or Jarrod Thomas’ face. Food trucks were also at the event to provide a variety of great food for our families. It is very important to mention our Outstanding Sponsors — Food King, Newton Insurance Sonic, Hillcrest Funeral Home, McDonalds, United in Levelland, Lamb County Electric Coop, Irvin Street First Baptist Church, Trinity Baptist Church, Kingdom Come Ministries from Lubbock, The Farmers Lunchbox and Bakery, ACE Hardware, Littlefield High School Student Council and Spanish Club. YOU ARE APPRECIATED!

We are beginning to wind down the first semester of school. With that being said, I encourage you to continue to push your child(ren) to complete the first semester of school on a strong note. There are many activities ahead of us prior to the end of the first semester, so please make every effort to become an active partner with the school and your child’s education.

This is a reminder that Daylight Savings Time will be on Sunday, November 6.

This is a reminder that Monday, November 7 is a teacher professional development day and a student holiday. Students will return on Tuesday, November 8 at regular time.
