A Cup of Joe...
It’s that time of the year! Time for those New Year’s Resolutions! Mine pretty much stayed the same as in the years past – I want to continue to eat healthy and stay in the gym.
Last Monday, Dec. 31st , when I left the office, it was almost 5:30 p.m. We had some family coming over to bring in the new year with us, but I still made time to hit the gym.
I usually go early in the morning, but since we had an early deadline that day, I needed to be at the office super early.
When I left the office I went home and jumped into my workout clothes.
Jessica, as usual, thought I was crazy, and told me I needed to take the day off.
I told her I did, but this workout was super important to me. You see, I began 2018 in the gym, and I knew I needed to end 2018 in the gym.
A lot of people ask me how I stay so motivated, and I tell them it’s easy – I just refuse to stop or give up.
Really, it’s that simple.
Believe me, there were days where I had to drag myself out of bed and into the gym. But, once I got to working out, I had trouble stopping.
Once you go long enough, it becomes a habit. A good habit. I’ve told you this before, the only regret I have, is that I waited so long to care about my health. I started my weight loss journey back in 2016, and I think sometimes where I’d be if I had started much earlier, or when I was much younger.
I turned 39-years-old in November of 2018, and soon I’ll be 40. But, I thank God that’s He’s allowed me to be able to get to where I’m at today.
I tell this to everyone that asks me, yes, I want to be healthy and feel better about myself, but the biggest reason I do this is for my wife and kids.
If I hadn’t started back in 2016 when I weighed 264 lbs., had a size 44 waist and always seemed to be sick. Where, or what would I look like today.
Would I still be here for Jessica and the kids?
I hope I’m not being to dramatic here, but it’s an honest question I ask myself all the time.
Today, right now, my weight sits at 187 lbs. I now have a size 34 waist, and I feel so much better! I have tons of confidence; which was something I lacked a few years ago.
I honestly feel like a new person!
But, as I’ve said before. I’m not done. Not by a long shot.
I hope to push myself even harder in 2019 and get to that next level with my fitness.

As a matter of fact, this coming Monday, Jessica is going back to the gym with me (please pray for us).
She calls me a drill instructor (I’m not), but when we work out together it’s fun.
And that’s what it should always be – you having fun while you try and better yourself.
Just remember, it takes time. Don’t go in expecting to see results in a week or two. It takes a little while longer than that. But once you see results, you won’t want to stop.
