On Friday, July 26, 2024 Tommie L. Porter passed away.
Tommie Lou Matthews was born June 18, 1932 in Littlefield, TX to Thomas L. Matthews and Minnie I. Davis Matthews. She attended Littlefield High School and graduated from West Texas State University in Canyon, TX. She enjoyed her time in the WT band and earned her degree in education to become a teacher in Lubbock. Tommie met and married James L. Porter.
Tommie and James had two sons, James and Kerry. They raised the family in Lubbock and in Second Baptist Church where they were charter members.
Tommie was preceded in death by her husband; her son; her parents; and by her sisters.
She is survived by her son Kerry and daughter-in-law; grandchildren and their spouses; and a great granddaughter.
Although no public memorial service is planned, she will be interred next to her husband in the Second Baptist Church Columbarium.
