RUTH HUDGENS HOLLY

Ruth Hudgens Holly, 99, of Olton, passed away, on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023, in Olton. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at Main Street Church of Christ, in Olton, with Evangelist Dallas Carrasco officiating. Interment was at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 28, at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park, in Lubbock, under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Ruth was born Oct. 6, 1923, at her home in Sulphur Springs, TX, to Roy and Lottie (Goodman) Burleson. She grew up in Dike, TX, until she was five years old, when she moved to Olton, TX. Ruth graduated from Olton High School, and then took bookkeeping from Draughn’s Business College in Plainview. In 1942, Ruth married W.H. (Dick) Hudgens and they were married almost 40 years. She married R.D. Holly, in 1985, and they were married seven years.

Ruth worked for Thompson Chevrolet in Olton, Fisher Ford and then for Don Spain Farm Supply. She also served as an election judge for Olton for over 25 years. Ruth enjoyed playing dominos, 42, Mexican Dominos, and enjoyed going fishing and tending her garden.
