ROY LEE DUNN

Roy Lee Dunn, 86, of Amarillo passed from this life Monday, Dec. 5, 2022.

Roy was born Feb. 3, 1936 in the Rocky Ford Community near Amherst, to parents A.Z. “Dee” and Lorena (Cowan) Dunn. When a youngster, Roy’s family moved near Portales, NM so his daddy could work at a civilian job on Canon Air Base. A few years later they moved to Littlefield, where Roy attended school. Later he enlisted in the military. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska for awhile. He married Charolette Roach in Amarillo on Dec. 6, 1959, and made their home and raised their family there.

Roy’s occupation for many years was being a truckdriver. He drove for Affiliated Foods in Amarillo, and delivered groceries to many of the surrounding Pay-N-Save stores in Lamb County. He then drove a truck for Walmart, and made trips across the United States many times. He enjoyed driving trucks, but retired after many years and enjoyed being with Charolette and the family and enjoyed doing their yardwork. He was a devout Christian and a member of Arden Road Baptist Church in Amarillo.

Services were held Friday, Dec. 9, 2022 at Arden Road Baptist Church in Amarillo with pastor, Bro. Aaron Denson, officiating. Burial was in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo with Military Honors by “Volley’s For Veterans” doing the honors.
