In Loving Memory Of
July 3, 1942 ~ Sept. 15, 2022
Rex Wayne Foust, Sr., 80, of Amherst, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, September 15, 2022. He was born July 3, 1942 in Littlefield to Cloise and Evelyn (Yarbrough) Foust.
Rex graduated from Littlefield High School with the Class of 1960. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed for a time in Germany. Rex married Nelda Thornburgh August 20, 1977 in Littlefield. The couple settled in Littlefield where they raised their two children, Rex and Jennifer. Rex spent many years traveling up and down the road as a driver for Walmart, and after retiring in 2013, he continued to work transporting cars for dealerships. He wasn't one to sit idle, and he loved driving cars all across the countryside. Rex never met a stranger and he was a friend to everyone. To know him was to love him, and in return he loved people. He was known as 'Papa' to his grandchildren, and his greatest joy was being a grandpa. He supported his grandchildren in all their sports and activities and loved spending time with his family. Rex and Nelda just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary and Rex's 80th birthday, with their children and grandchildren in Ruidoso and made many wonderful memories that weekend. Rex had a personal relationship with Jesus which he practiced daily. He attended First Baptist Church in Littlefield. Rex was also an avid basketball fan and loved to play golf with his friends. He had the ability to keep those around him laughing, and will be remembered for his quick wit and great sense of humor.
Rex is survived by his wife, Nelda Foust of Amherst; a son, Rex Foust, Jr. and wife Becky, of Spur, Texas; a daughter, Jennifer Edwards and husband, Jeff of Amherst; five grandchildren, Kaegan Edwards of Lubbock, Trace Foust of Spur, Kyndal Edwards of Amherst, Katey Beth Foust of Spur, and Kooper Edwards of Amherst; a sister, Debbie Bulber of Lubbock; nephew, Brett Bulber of Lubbock; and countless friends.
Waiting for him in Heaven are his parents; a brother, Jerry Fous; and his father and mother-in-law, Karl and Beatrice Thornburgh.
Rex's life will be celebrated in a memorial service, at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Littlefield. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Trace Foust, Kooper Edwards, Kooper Bowen, Brett Bulber, JW Wagley, Charlie Bishop. Ronald Hardin and Bruce Trotter.
