She was born February 17, 1937 in Childress, Texas to Landon and Ruth Coffman. At the age of five months, she came to Littlefield, Texas to live with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Wall, who adopted her at age six.
Delores grew up on the farm west of Littlefield, attended Littlefield public schools and graduated in 1955. She then attended West Texas A&M and graduated with honors in 1959. Her areas of study were English, Spanish, and education.
In the Fall of 1959, she began her teaching career in Hereford, Texas, teaching secondary English and Spanish. It was here that she met her husband, Calton E. (Gene) Moore, also a teacher. They were married in 1961 and moved to Sudan, Texas to begin a long dual teaching career.
After three years in Sudan, they found jobs in Fritch, Texas near Lake Meredith. Both loved water sports and other outdoor activities, so this was the perfect location.
They became involved with breeding and showing Appaloosa horses while in Fritch, becoming well known on the show circuit, locally and nationally. They produced a world champion cutting horse and numerous winners at halter. Horses from their barns were sold all over the U.S. and into Mexico and Canada. One of their yearling studs which ranked in the top ten in the World Show was purchased by the President of Mexico.
In 1979, Gene and Delores moved to Floydada to be closer to Delores's aunt and uncle. Gene retired in 1988 due to his health. In 1990, they moved to Littlefield and Delores taught at Springlake-Earth ISD. Gene passed away in 1998. She retired in 2002 after a 44 year career. She loved her students and remained in touch with several of them until her death.
After her retirement, Delores met Jim Curry, also a retired teacher and coach. They traveled extensively in the U.S. and Mexico and visited the trailer on the reservation in Mescalero, New Mexico. Jim Curry was the love of her life.
Delores was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Littlefield, where she was an elder.
Delores is survived by a her sister, Rita Grove Pearce of Williamsburg, VA; a sister-in-law, Debbie Casey of Wimberly, TX; and Jim Curry's three children, Rebecca Kropfinger and her husband, Bryan of Oklahoma City, OK, Robert Curry and his wife, Elena of Brownsville, TX and Bryan Curry of Round Rock, TX; nephews, Scott Rogers and Tim Rogers; and three nieces, Camie Stinner, Lori Rogers and Stephanie Casey, as well as several great nieces and nephews.

Delores loved big and made everyone in her life feel like they were her special person. She had a big smile, a warm hug, and a quick wit for everyone she knew. She was generous to a fault and always looked out for the little guys and the under-served. She will be very dearly missed.
Delores will be cremated, per her wishes. There will be a memorial service at 1:00 pm. Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Grace Chapel inside Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield, Texas.
