Church service for Peggy (Kent) Baker age 93, of Sudan, Texas, was held Tuesday morning, August 15, 2023 at Sudan Methodist Church with Rev. Cam Givan officiating. Burial was in Sudan Cemetery at 10:00 am. Peggy died Friday, August 11, 2023 in Sudan. She was born October 3, 1929 in Sudan to Dudley and Polly (Kyzer) Kent. She married Calvin O. Baker in Muleshoe, Texas on January 18, 1947.

Peggy was a homemaker who would rather be working in the yard than inside the house. She drove a tractor and worked in the cotton fields with her husband. Peggy was a collector of figurines, jewelry and dogs. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sudan.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin; two daughers, Sharron Wood and Jeanne Provence; her parents, Dudley and Polly; a sister, Christine Brown; three brothers, Son Kent, Bill Kent and Pat Kent; and two great-grandsons, Cooper Chase and Logan Provence. Peggy is survived by her son, Corley Baker and his wife, Susan; her daughter, Sheila Nations and her husband, Tom of Levelland, Texas; her two son-in-laws, Billy Wood of Runaway Bay, Texas and Damon Provence of Sudan, Texas; two brothers, Joe Kent and his wife, Lucy of Sudan, Texas and Tim Kent and his wife, Pat of Silverton, Texas; her sister-in-law, Patsy Kent of Sudan, Texas; her 10 grandchildren, Danette, Doug, Heather, Damon, Becky, Bryan, Brooke, Breanne, Crystal and Marlea; her nineteen great-grandchildren, Cal, Nick, Haven, Tristan, Tyler, Hailey, Abby, Josh, Ashton, Greyson, Jaden, Preston, Reese, Griffin, Callan, Zachary, Matthew, Libby and Austin; and her five great-great-grandchildren, Steel, Violet, Jack, Delilah and Delainey.
