OLIVER E. ROSE

Oliver E. Rose, 86, of Olton, died Monday, June 13, 2022, in Olton, TX. A family memorial service will be held at a later date in the Sandhills. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Oliver was born Feb. 26, 1936, in his home on the Rose Ranch, south of Olton, to Walter B. and Dovie (Cavett) Rose. A 1954 graduate of Olton High School, Oliver attended Sul Ross College where he played football. After a year, Oliver transferred to West Texas College in Canyon where he met Kathleen McLaury. They were married August 3, 1957, in the chapel on campus. Oliver was drafted into the United States Army in 1959 and served in Germany for two years. While in Germany, Oliver played football for his Army company. A long-time farmer and rancher, Oliver enjoyed raising Hereford cattle and spending time in the Sandhills. An avid arrowhead collector, Oliver also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
