Michael Charles Barr, 80, of Littlefield, TX, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Lubbock Covenant Medical Center.
Michael was born on April 8, 1945, in Odessa, TX, to Charles Joyce Barr Jr. and Betty Jean (Clark) Barr. A 1963 graduate of Monterey High School, he went on to attend Texas Tech University.
As a WWII veteran who flew missions as a bombardier in the B-17 Flying Fortress, Michael proudly served his country. He went through basic training in the United States Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton and served as an air traffic controller in the Air Force.
Michael’s professional journey began alongside his father who was a gemologist and commodities buyer at Charles Barr Company Inc. in Lubbock, where he worked as head of the commodities branch as a broker. In 1992, he founded High Plains Commodities, a cotton seed brokerage firm based in West Texas, where he continued to work until his passing.
Michael is survived by his two sons and their spouses; his daughter and husband; his first wife; his brother; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
A private funeral service was held, with military honors provided by the VFW. He was laid to rest at Littlefield Memorial Park
