Maria Soria Ortega, 72, of Littlefield passed away Monday, August 14, 2023 in Plano, TX. Maria was born December 22, 1950 in Leon Guanajuato, Mexico. She married Leon F. Ortega, Jr. February 3 , 1975 in Littlefield, TX.

Maria began her career in Medical Arts in 1972 at Lamb County Health Center, then in 1989 as nurse for Littlefield Independent School District where she worked for 32 years before retiring in 2021. She loved having family gatherings and being surrounded by family. She enjoyed cooking and listening to music. She loved to smile and she loved life. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Littlefield, TX.

Maria is survived by her husband, Leon F. Ortega Jr.; two sons, Chris Ortega of Littlefield, TX, and Jamie (wife Michelle) Ortega of Lubbock, TX; two daughters, Adrianna (husband Lorenzo) Ortega-Navarrete of Plano, TX and Hillary Ortega of Littlefield, TX; three brothers, Jerry Soria of Littlefield, TX, Rosendo Soria of Clovis, NM, and Luis Soria of Lubbock, TX; one sister, Juanita Contreras of Bovina, TX; six grandchildren, Anthony, Lyric, Caden, Aubree, Anneliese, and Lexie; and one great grandson, Leo.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Soria, Javiear Soria, and Arturo Soria; and one sister, Julia Soria.

Funeral mass was held Saturday afternoon, August 19, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Littlefield with Father Jeff Church officiating. Rosary was recited Friday evening, August 18, at Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
