In Loving Memory Of Majora 'Jody' Davis

Aug. 13, 1933 ~ Dec. 6, 2022

Majora "Jody" Davis gained her wings on December 6, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on August 13, 1933, to Barney and Faye Green near Duke, Oklahoma. When the family moved near Littlefield, she began her school career as a proud Littlefield Wildcat. During her senior year, mutual friends introduced her to Leroy "Smokey" Davis. The following year, the couple walked down the aisle together to be married. A short time later, they walked down the aisle again to be baptized. They taught Bible classes, had Bible studies in their home, and sponsored the youth activities.

When some men came to their home to discuss the plans for building a Christian College in Lubbock, they eagerly offered their support in the hopes that their children and grandchildren would study there (..and they did).

They added a daughter and a son to complete their family, and when they entered school, she began working outside the home. She would come out of retirement to work as a courier for Security State Bank. She loved the employees and enjoyed being a part of their bank family.

She was a talented seamstress and made many garments for family and friends. In later years, she began sewing blankets for adults, children, and babies and give them as gifts or donate them to those in need. She also made special blankets for the hospital for the "Heaven bound" babies.

Her talents also included baking wedding cakes, and after designing her own, she would make an additional 50 or more.

She had a true servant's heart and looked forward to buying yearly Christmas gifts for the New Mexico Children's home as well as surprising people with one of her Hershey pies.

She is preceded in death by her parents; by her husband of 46 years, Leroy Davis; by her son-in-law, George Richardson; and by all of her siblings; Wilma Sutton, Don Green, Doyle Green, Dale Green, and Joyce Fowler.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Dona Richardson of Lubbock; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sandra Davis of Littlefield; and two "adopted" sons, John and Don Richardson of Lubbock. Her grandchildren are Taylor and Hailey Richardson of Lubbock, Whitney Davis and Ruben Robin of Brownwood, Luke Richardson of Lubbock and Hillary and Dakota Tooley of Littlefield. She was so proud of her new great-granddaughter, Ella Richardson of Lubbock and of two foster great-grandsons, Brady and Jeff.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Crescent Park Church of Christ in Littlefield with Jim Harris officiating. Interment followed in Littlefield Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Taylor Richardson, Don Richardson, John Richardson, Luke Richardson, Ruben Robin and Dakota Tooley. Honorary pallbearers were: Jimmy Green, Darwin Green, Butch Sutton, Dwight Green, Brad Fowler and Brent Green.

The family suggests memorials be made to: New Mexico Children's Home, 1356 NM 236, Portales, New Mexico 88130 or LCU, 5601 19th St, Lubbock, Texas 79407.

Arrangements were under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
