Teresa Wood of Abilene, Texas, went to be with Jesus on April 13, 2026.
Teresa was born on February 3, 1955, in Littlefield, Texas, to James and Hellen Wood. She was a proud graduate of Littlefield High School, Class of 1973. During her high school years, Teresa worked at Dairy Queen, where she met Frank and Gladys Robinson, who quickly became like family to her. She was one of the few who held the cherished recipe for the famous Dairy Queen taquitos and often made large batches to share with those she loved.
Teresa dedicated 32 years of service to Woodmen of the World Insurance. She especially treasured her time working with the Woodmen Youth Camp in Brownwood, Texas, where she touched many lives.
Her most cherished role was being "Aunt T" to her five nieces, one nephew, and twelve great nieces and nephews, as well as to so many others who lovingly claimed her as their own. Teresa was known for her sweet and creative spirit. She found joy in making quilts and handmade gifts for family and friends, and she was an accomplished baker, famous for her cake balls and pecan pies.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Teresa faithfully served in many capacities at her beloved home church, Grace Baptist Church in Potosi, Texas.
Teresa is survived by her sister, Janice Richey and husband, Bill of Lake Kiowa, Texas; her brother, Bob Wood of Lubbock, Texas; and her nieces and nephew: Shelly Richey of Dallas, Texas, Dena Cook and husband, Ryan of Superior, Colorado, Kari Edwards of Dardenne Prairie, Missouri, Lisa Sharp and husband, Russ of Willow Park, Texas, Alee McNeese and husband, Mitch of Littlefield, Texas and James Wood of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by her beloved grand-nieces and nephews: Griffen and Chloe Cook; Kelsey, Ethan, and Cannon Sharp; Austin and Kendall Edwards; and Madi, Major, Maggie, and Makay McNeese, along with many cousins and dear friends from coast to coast.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Hellen Wood; her brother, Jimmy Wood; and her great-niece, Maysen McNeese, who were there to welcome her into Heaven.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Littlefield Cemetery, under the direction of Hillcrest Funeral Home, Littlefield, Texas.
