In Loving Memory Of Len ‘Poison’ Ivey

Jan. 28, 1954 ~ Sept. 29, 2021

Len “Poison” Ivey, 67, of Seymour, went to be with his Savior Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021. He was born Jan. 28, 1954 in Dumas, TX to Rodney Even Ivey and Betty (Hanna) Neugebauer.

Len graduated from Amherst High School, and then attended Texas Tech where he graduated with a degree in Agriculture. While at Texas Tech, he was also on the Rodeo team, and then went on to compete in the PRCA for many years as a professional bull rider. Len loved being a cowboy more than anything and went many of miles up and down the road, from rodeo to rodeo. After he stopped competing in the arena, he worked at FHA in Littlefield for a number of years and then for FDIC. He eventually moved back “home” to Seymour about 25 years ago to help his dad on the farm and ranch. The pair spent many seasons custom harvesting and running a combine. Len was a cowboy in every sense of the word, he appreciated a good horse, loved a loyal dog, he was charming and witty, thought fast on his feet, enjoyed a simpler way of life and never met a stranger. He was a proud Christian and stood on the Word of the Lord. He was a talented musician and could play the fiddle, guitar and the harmonica. Len loved music and loved his life. He truly made a difference in the world and left a big “boot print” wherever he went and on those he knew.

Len is survived by his dad, Rodney Ivey currently of Littlefield; a sister, Cassandra Waldrop and husband, Tommy of Littlefield; nephew, Brent Waldrop and wife, Belisa of Lubbock; niece, Aimee Gray and husband, Chad of Lubbock; one great nephew and three great nieces; and a host of extended family members and friends who he loved like family.

He was preceded in death by a son, Neven; his mom and step-dad, Betty and Buddy Neugebauer; step-mom, Gilda Ivey; and a special friend, Vickie Lewis.

Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday Oct. 6, 2021 at Grace Chapel in Littlefield with Pastor Andy Taylor officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Seymour EMS, (200 N Stadium Drive, Seymour, TX 76380) or a favorite charity of your choice.
