Josephina Garcia, 83, of Littlefield, Texas, entered eternal life on Sunday, April 5, 2026. She was born on November 29, 1942, in Littlefield, Texas to Fernando and Consuelo Aguilar.
Josephina married Guadalupe B. Garcia on April 5, 1977, in Dimmitt, Texas. They were blessed to share their life and memories with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Josephina's husband, Guadalupe, passed away on November 19, 2020. Her family made sure to never let her feel as though she were doing life alone and made sure to make as many memories as they could with her. Her loving grandchildren called her their 'Wela.' She loved the family that her and Guadalupe created. Josephina put her heart into her cooking and made the best breakfast, not leaving out homemade tortillas. Her family loved eating at what they called 'Josie's Kitchen.' Cooking was a gift that she was blessed with, and she was able to serve those she loved. She was a loving woman that was always helping people. Josephina took care of her son, Juan, and they were always together. She was the light in her family's lives. She gave them purpose and showed them love and patience. Josephina's love for her family was admirable.
Those who knew Josephina knew that she loved thrifting. She loved thrifting so much that she wanted to share her joy with others. Josephina opened her very own thrift store in downtown Littlefield called "Josie's New & Used." Josephina had a lively spirit and was always the life of the party. Josephina lived her life to the fullest with happiness and was sure to make her presence known. Josephina loved to dance and smile. She adored sunflowers and elephants. She was a fierce woman that overcame adversities.
Her pleasant and loving spirit will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Juan Trevino of Littlefield, Texas, Eva Garcia and her spouse, Marcos Melendez of Littlefield, Texas, Elena Dobricka and her spouse, Trae of Houston, Texas, Cristoval Aguilar and his wife, Becky of Littlefield, Texas, and Gracie Cowan of Lubbock, Texas; twelve grandchildren, Rafael and Adelaida Garcia of Littlefield, Texas, Ismael and Kathren Melendez of Littlefield, Texas, Maira Melendez of Littlefield, Texas, Richard Welch of Houston, Texas, Tara Finke of Houston, Texas, Nicky Aguilar of Colorado, Renee Aguilar of Colorado, Jennifer Aguilar of Littlefield, Texas, Christine Aguilar of Littlefield, Texas, Anthony Aguilar of Littlefield, Texas, Stacey Cowan of Lubbock, Texas, and Casey Cowan of Lubbock, Texas; ten great-grandchildren; a brother, Domingo Aguilar of Littlefield, Texas; and three sisters, Felipa Duran of Littlefield, Texas, Refugia Sanchez of Littlefield, Texas, and Candelaria Zamora of Littlefield, Texas.
Josephina was preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe B. Garcia; her parents, Fernando and Consuelo Aguilar; and her grandson, Esteban Garcia.
Funeral services for Josephina Garcia were held Thursday afternoon, April 9, 2026, at Grace Chapel within Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield, Texas. Rosary service was held Wednesday evening, April 8, 2026, at Grace Chapel. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Littlefield, Texas. Serving as pallbearers were Ismael Melendez, Ricardo Welch, Rafael Garcia, Adam Garcia, Joe Rodriquez, and Anthony Aguilar.
Arrangements were under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield, Texas.
