Douglas Ice Cummings, 69, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023 in Lubbock. He was born September 30, 1953 in Lubbock to Winston and Hilda (Bagwell) Cummings.

Doug was raised in Lamb County and graduated from Amherst High School in 1972. He attended Texas Tech University, was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1977. Doug worked as an Agriculture loan banker for many years, in Littlefield, Anton and Shallowater. Doug married Debbie Cook, and the couple had a son, Derek. After her passing in 2003, he later met Kathy Wells and they married in 2008. Doug coached Derek in youth baseball and was Derek's biggest fan in everything he did. He loved watching football, was an avid golfer and in his younger years rode bulls and broncs in the rodeo arena.

Doug is survived by his wife, Kathy Cummings of Lubbock; a niece, Nikki Steen Kovar and her husband, SGM (Ret.) Ernie Kovar of Liberty Hill, Texas and their two children, Easton and Tenley; and other extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Derek Cummings; and a sister, Debbie Steen.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 7, 2023 from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Chapel in Hillcrest Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Sanders officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
