Doris Duke (Macha) Monroe, of Forney, TX, passed away on July 12, 2024. She was born December 24, 1940, in Littlefield, TX, to Laura (Schlottman) Macha and Joe Macha.
Doris married James Monroe at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Littlefield, TX, on November 28, 1969. She worked on her parents' farm since the age of four and later became an office manager for Pioneer Gas and Jim Monroe Air Conditioning. She enjoyed the outdoors and fishing, architecture and design, genealogy (family history research), landscaping, church, cooking, and especially being with family and friends. She also enjoyed drawing and floral arrangements; one of her flower arrangements placed at the State Fair of Texas in 1981. She loved starting her day by taking pictures of the beautiful sunrises from her front porch and ending it by watching the sunset with a prayer. Doris, "Beta" or Mimi to her grandchildren, was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Doris is survived by her children: Suzanne Phillips and husband, Blake, Britt Monroe and wife, Dee, and Brian Monroe and wife, Ana; grandchildren: Paul Phillips and wife, Rachel, Brad Phillips and wife, Lauren, Megan Phillips Agnew and husband, Travis, Cliff Garner and wife, Holly, Chris Garner and wife, Christie, Brittany Monroe Burns and husband, Steven, Josh Monroe and wife, Kim, Maia Monroe, Myriam Monroe, and Miranda Monroe; and greatgrandchildren: Harper Monroe, Noah Mcintosh, Trinity Garner, Katie Garner, Charlie Garner, Owen Phillips, Bradley Phillips, and Danielle Agnew.
She was preceded in death by her husband: James Monroe; her parents; and her siblings: James Macha, Lawrence Macha, and Emil Macha.
A Rosary was held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 25 at Saint Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Forney, Texas. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024, also at Saint Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Interment followed at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall, TX.
