In Loving Memory Of Billy Doyle Simpson

July 29, 1938 ~ Oct. 27, 2024

Billy Doyle Simpson, 86, of Littlefield, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, in Littlefield, Texas. He was born July 29, 1938, in Wells, Texas to Bill and Gayle Simpson. He married Gwendolyn Baker on March 22, 1958, in Morton, Texas.

In his early career Billy worked for R.C. Taylor Company, before moving to the Three-Way Community where he worked as a farmer for close to 20 years before retiring in 1980. He and Gwen managed the Crescent Motel for a few years and then went to work as a rural carrier in the Anton area for The United States Postal Service and retired in 2003. He had a great love for wood carving by hand and was quite a selftaught artist. One of his carvings was "minted" and made into a Santa. In his early years he loved to design ideas on paper and even took a drafting course by mail. He had several inventions but never got patents. Any idea he thought of he quickly took to the drawing board, even if it was a paper towel, so he would not forget the details. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was always there for his children any time they needed assistance or advice. The last three and a half years of his life he worked diligently and lovingly, caring for his wife, Gwen until his last dying breath.

Billy is survived by his wife, Gwen Simpson of Littlefield; a son, James Micha Simpson and wife, Elizabeth of Littlefield; a daughter, Jan McCain and husband, Keith of Littlefield; a brother, Arlen Simpson and wife, Doris of Providence Village, Texas; fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gayle Simpson; a son, Billy Dale Simpson; and a daughter, Gloria Lynskey; and four grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield, Texas.
