Sept. 6, 1938 ~ Dec. 9, 2022

Linda Thompson, 84, of Amherst passed away December 9, 2022 in Amherst. She was born September 6, 1938 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Arthur Walbrick Lorene Leu Walbrick.

Linda moved to Sudan with her family when she was very young, where she graduated from Sudan High School and then met her husband, George Thompson. The couple married on December 28, 1957 at the First United Methodist Church in Amherst. The settled in the Amherst community where they raised their three sons, Kenneth, Craig and Monty. Linda worked for 39 years and 11 months for the Lamb County Clerk's office, before retiring. She was a loving mother and a wonderful 'Nana' to her grandchildren. She had a talented green thumb, and it was evident by simply looking at her backyard. Her and her husband loved traveling, in their RV and in the travel club. She was a quiet woman with a sweet spirit and never met a stranger. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Amherst.

Linda is survived by her husband of 64 years, George Thompson of Amherst; three sons, Kenneth Thompson, Craig Thompson and wife, Fran and Monty Thompson, all of Amherst; nine grandchildren, Jordan Thompson, Trevor Thompson, Nicholas Watson, Alicia Haumont, Savanna Thompson, Tyson Thompson, Josh Thompson, Zachary Thompson and Matthew Thompson; eleven great grandchildren and one on the way; a brother, Bobby Walbrick of Littlefield; a sister, Barbara Jane Lancaster of Lubbock; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a half brother, Richard Bernard.

Memorial Services were held Tuesday morning, December 13, 2022 at Amherst First United Methodist Church with Pastor Cam Givan officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
