Josefa Sanchez, 103, of Olton, died Wednesday, June 5, 2019, in Olton. Rosary was said Friday evening, June 7, 2019, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Olton. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2019, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, with Fr. John Cherolikal officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Josefa was born Sept. 3, 1915, in Goliad, TX. Raised by Marcos and Justa Lopez, Josefa married Pedro “Pete” Sanchez, on Oct. 12, 1935. She moved to Olton in 1959 from Karnes City, TX and was a homemaker. Involved at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Josefa was a proud member of the Guadalupanas. She loved to sew and do embroidery work. Homemade tamales were her specialty and were enjoyed by everyone including movie producers and celebrities.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro “Pete” Sanchez, in 2010.

Survivors include three sons, Sabino Sanchez and his wife, Blanca of Garland, Francisco Sanchez and his wife, Dominga of Garland, and Claudio Sanchez and his wife, Josie of Garland; three daughters, Yolanda Minjarez of Olton, Mary Jane Garza and her husband, Rey of Earth, and Rosa Rodriguez of Seagraves; 24 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren
