In Loving Memory Of John Galan Dec. 27, 1934 ~ Nov. 26, 2022

John Galan, 87, of Littlefield passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022 in Lubbock. He was born December 27, 1934 in San Marcos, Texas to Antonio Galan and Felipa Reyes Galan.

John married Inez Perez June 20, 1971 in Littlefield. He was a man who believed in hardwork, and he instilled that in all of his family. He worked at Sudan Feeders for over 30 years. John was very resourceful and could make anything out of nothing and he could repair anything. He did things his way, and everyone knew if they were helping him that is was to be done that way. He was very independent and well respected. John had a big heart and was always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved animals, especially his cows and his cats. John always had a smile on his face, no matter what he was going through. His greatest joy was his family and he was a dedicated family man. He was the Patriarch of his family and known as "Welo" by everyone. He raised all of his kids, and even some nieces, nephews, and grandkids as his own. John was a devout and faithful Catholic.

He is survived by two sons, Sammy Martinez and wife, Kathy of Littlefield and Frank Cavazos and wife, Isabel of Littlefield; eight daughters, Virginia Arce of Littlefield, Margie Gonzales and husband, Joe of Amherst, Josefina Rodriguez of Reston, VA, Mary Lou Perez and husband, Pedro of Lubbock, Rachel Diaz and husband, Alvin of Ft. Worth, Patricia Galan of Littlefield, Lola K. Bocerra and husband, Jose of Palmdale CA, and Melissa Galan of San Angelo; fourty-two grandchildren; ninety-five great grandchildren; thirty-nine great-great grandchildren; five great-great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez on October 12, 2005; two sons, Bennie Martinez and Juan Galan; his parents; six grandchildren, David Arce, LaShea Arce, Virginia Inez Arce, Jessica Rodriguez, Mason Rios and Caleb Villarreal; six brothers, Pablo, Gabriel, Mingo, Alejandro, Antonio Jr., and Arnulfo; and three sisters, Salome, Amelia and Juana.

Funeral Mass was held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday November 29, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Littlefield with Father Brian Wood officiating. Interment followed in Littlefield Memorial Park. Rosary was recited Monday evening at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers were Virginia Arce, Josefina Rodriguez, Mary Lou Perez, Rachel Diaz, Patricia Galan and Elsa Bejil.

Arrangements were under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
