Neta Heller passed away peacefully at Harmonee House on November 24, 2024 in Amherst, TX. Born December 21, 1937, in Oklahoma City, Neta was the only child of Hugh and Katherine Meegan of Hinton, OK.
She graduated from Hinton High School and on November 24, 1955, Neta married Harold Heller of Cashion, OK. In June of 1956 they moved to Houston, TX where they would spend the next 27 years, except for a 2-year stint where Harold worked as the Public Works Director in Littlefield, Texas 1974 to 1975 and Neta worked as a police dispatcher for the City of Littlefield. When they retired, they moved to Canyon Lake, Texas where Neta worked for Pedernales Electric Company. Harold and Neta moved to Amherst, Texas in 1997. Harold and Neta were avid RVers and traveled much of the U.S. and Canada with their camper in tow making many friends along the way. Neta was a devout Christian and loved singing in the church choir, most recently at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Levelland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved husband, Harold.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter: son, Jeff and his wife, Janet Heller of Montgomery, Texas; daughter, Jan and husband, Randy Miller of Amherst; son, Larry Heller of Westcliffe, CO; 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at the Amherst Methodist Church at a later date, and it will be announced so all her family and friends can attend. In lieu of flowers, the Heller family would appreciate any donations be sent to the Amherst EMS who provided professional and compassionate care and transport for her on many
