Harvey Patterson, 87, of Amherst, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, March 13, 2022 in Lubbock. He was born June 27, 1934 in Whitharral, Texas to John Henry Patterson and Vera (Monkres) Patterson.
Harvey married Joy Harmon on June 13, 1954 in Amherst, Texas. The couple made their home there and raised four children. Harvey was a farmer, and a part owner of Crossroads Independent Gin. He served his community in many ways, such as being on the Amherst School Board, Amherst Booster Club, the South Plains Hospital Board and as a Cub Scout Leader. He was a fan of the Amherst Bulldogs and a honorary farmer of the Amherst Chapter of FFA. Harvey enjoyed spending time with his family at their lake house, Harveys Hideaway. He liked to go check his cows everyday in his later years. Harveys passions can be summed up in three words: God, Church and Family. He was a devoted husband and a wonderful Granddaddy. He was a member of the Highway Church of Christ in Littlefield.
Harvey is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joy Patterson of Amherst; three daughters, Kathy Mynaugh and husband, Jim of Weatherford, TX, Sharalyn Gill and husband, Richard of Midland, TX and Gina Brown and husband, Thiess of Weatherford; a son, Bryan Patterson and wife, Robyn of Amherst; twelve grandchildren, Liz, Colleen, Spencer, Stuart, Sarah, Sean, Leah, Thiess, Rebekah, Reese, Landon and Jett; five great grandchildren, Riley, Harvey and Jameson Patterson, Thaddeus Gill and Asher Brown; two brothers, Tommy Patterson of Littlefield and Carrell Patterson of Lubbock; two sisters, Delores Ruebush of Edgewood, NM and Juanita Bates of Silver City, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harrell Patterson; and a sister, Johnnie Patterson.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Crescent Park Church of Christ in Littlefield with Bryan Patterson and Keith Avaritt officiating. Private interment will be held prior at Fairlawn Cemetery in Amherst. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
