Harold Duane Eby, Sr., 84, of Lubbock and formerly of Olton, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022, in Lubbock, TX. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Olton, with Brother David Azam officiating. Interment followed at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Harold was born Dec. 6, 1937, at home on the farm, south of Olton, to Duane Charles and Joyce (Johnson) Eby. He graduated from Olton High School in 1956. Harold was inducted into the United States Army in 1960. He was sent to Fort Hood for six months of basic training and then 18 months in Germany during the Crisis. On June 20, 1964, Harold married the love of his life, Betty Mays and they were married over 42 years. They settled in Olton in 1972 with their three children.
Harold became manager at Leon’s Grocery in Olton and worked there near 30 years. Harold was a member of the First Baptist Church and VFW Post #4779.
