In Loving Memory Of Gloria Gale Steele

April 18, 1940 ~ July 6, 2023

Gloria Gale Steele, 83, of Olton, died Thursday, July 6, 2023, in Lubbock, Texas. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 4, 2023, at Olton Methodist Church, in Olton, with Pastor Kyle Brock officiating. A family visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Ramage Funeral Directors, in Olton. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Gloria was born April 18, 1940, in Plainview, Texas, to William Galen and Dovie Jewel (Hyman) Finney. She graduated from Olton High School in 1958. On February 14, 1968, Gloria married Jim Steele and they were married over 55 years. An active member of Olton Methodist Church, Gloria was also a member of the Olton Study Club. Gloria excelled at baking and cooking and often made dishes for people in town. If you ever needed a cup of buttermilk or a couple of eggs, Gloria was the one to call. She loved to garden, both vegetables and flowers. Known as an animal lover, Gloria had many various pets through the years, including skunks, ferrets, and rabbits. Well thought of in the community, Gloria was named Citizen thru the Years in 1995 and Woman of the Year in 2004. Gloria enjoyed visiting with friends and family on the phone and often did so late into the night. Most of all, Gloria loved her family, spoiling her grandchildren, and she will be greatly missed.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Joel Finney, in 2015.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Steele of Olton; two sons, Les Mills of Olton and Jimmy Steele and wife, Seana of Houston; daughter, Chelli Stovall and husband, Joseph of Breckenridge; two nieces, Jo Ann Moss of Corpus Christie and Julie Allcorn and husband, Brad of Amarillo; and a nephew, Joe Gus Finney and wife, Eve of Lubbock. She was blessed with six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-nephews, and a great-niece.
