Geneva Ellen Smith, 86, of Olton, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2022, in Plainview, TX. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022, at Olton Cemetery, with Evangelist Dallas Carrasco officiating and under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Geneva was born Oct. 29, 1935, in Gainesville, TX, to Richard and Ida Mae (Evans) Bosley. A lifetime area resident, Geneva married William Melvin “Billy” Smith, Jr., on June 22, 1956. Geneva worked various jobs for Olton ISD for many years. She was a teacher’s assistant in the Special Education department, served as a substitute teacher, worked as the high school secretary, moved on to the bookkeeping office in administration, and finished as the Tax Assessor Collector, all for Olton ISD. She was very civic minded and involved in many community activities over the years. A member of Main Street Church of Christ, Geneva was a member of the Bridge Club, an avid reader, and was a talented cook. She had a green thumb and enjoyed working with her plants.
