Freddie Gene Spies and Carolyn Dalton Spies

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Freddie Gene Spies, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, of natural causes as a result of complications from Parkinson's Disease. Due to the Covid chaos at the time; the family elected to reserve his death announcement and memorial until the passing of his lifelong bride and soulmate.

Loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Carolyn Ann Spies, quietly passed away in her sleep on December 29, 2022, of natural causes resulting from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. With her passing, the family shares conflicting emotions of both mourning and relief. The last five years have been challenging having her physically but, losing her mentally.

Gene was born on March 31, 1940, in Mesilla Park, NM to parents Rhea Clayborn Spies and Eva Hopper Spies. Carolyn was born in 1942, in Phoenix, AZ to parents Lowell Wallace Dalton and Nellie Dean Dalton. Gene and Carolyn made a covenant before God on August 13, 1960, in Muleshoe, TX. They promised to be together for as long as they both shall live, and they did just that. They remained married a total of 60 years and together they had three incredible sons: Danny, Dean, and David.

Gene and Carolyn Spies were such a light in this often-troubled world. They will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know them. They remained in love with each other and with the Lord, the entire length of their life, just as they had promised they would. Their legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone they interacted with as well as those they reached but never met.

Gene and Carolyn are survived by sons, Wallace Dean (Darlene MacLaughlin) Spies of League City and Michael David (Jenny) Spies of Burleson, TX; grandchildren Gary Dalton Spies and Lillie Raegan Spies; step-grandchildren Courtney, Gavn, Kylie, and Maddy; and step-great granddaughter, Zoe. Gene Spies is also survived by sister Faye McClelland, nephew Chuck (Tracie) McClelland, and niece Mitzi (John) Collins. Carolyn is survived by brother John (Cheryl) Dalton, and nieces Traci (Riyadh) Al Najjar, Elaine Mingus, Natalie Amparan, and nephews DeWayne (Shari) Long and Dawl (Terri) Long and many more great nieces and nephews.

Both are predeceased by son Daniel Gene Spies (1994). Gene was preceded in death by his parents Rhea Clayborn Spies (1955) and Eva Hopper Spies (1976), siblings Gerald Spies, Lloyd Spies, Jerry Spies, and Ronnie Spies. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Lowell Wallace Dalton (1998) and Nellie Dean Dalton (1956) and sister LaQuinta Long (2018).

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Ovation

Church at 572 SW Wilshire Blvd Burleson, TX 76028 on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 2:00 pm. For those unable to attend, the

service will be available via livestream at www.ovation.church/spies on the 28th beginning at 2 pm.
