FINUS J. BRANHAM, SR

Finus Jack Branham, Sr. of Lubbock, TX, passed away at the age of 90 on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023. He was born in Winters, TX on March 21, 1933 to Troy Washington Branham and Effie Bell Mayfield.

Finus dedicated more than four years of his life to the United States Air Force before embarking on an academic journey at Texas Tech University. There, he earned both his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Education and his Master’s degree. Finus imparted his knowledge in Agriculture Education for an impressive 35 years, pioneering the Ag Co-op program for high school students in Texas. He contributed 22 years to Economy Mills feed store, where he retired.

In 1963, at the age of 30, Finus commenced his Masonic journey at Littlefield Masonic Lodge No. 1161. His dedication and leadership were evident as he presided over Lubbock Lodge as Worshipful Master. 44 years later he also became the Worshipful Master of Littlefield Lodge. He was the District Deputy Grand Master for district 9793-A. Until his passing, he held the position of treasurer for the Littlefield Masonic Lodge, Lubbock Masonic Lodge, Wolfforth Masonic Lodge, and Lubbock York Rite groups. Finus was a member of Broadway Church of Christ.

A celebration of his life will begin with a visitation on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023 from 6 pm-8 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. Services will continue with a 1 pm, on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023 in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
