Eddie Wayne Barrett, 56 of Amherst, Texas, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024. He was born on June 25, 1968, in Littlefield, Texas.

Eddie graduated from Amherst High School in 1986. Right after graduation he enlisted and served in the United States Marines. He then graduated from OSU in 1997. Eddie presently worked for C-Innovations on an offshore oil rig based out of Louisiana. He was a craftsman, a talented woodworker and was very handy. He remained a kid at heart who was loud, boisterous, outgoing and fun loving. He loved his motorcycles, golfing, dancing and drinking wine. He liked attending Pastor Todd's sermons at TWC in Lubbock with his girlfriend, Marlene. He hosted his infamous annual crawfish boil for over 20 years and enjoyed entertaining and feeding everyone. He had a deep love for his family and will always be remembered for his kind heart.

Eddie is survived by his mom, Vivian Long of Amherst, Texas; a son, Joshua Randall Barrett of Chicago, Illinois; two brothers, Cliff Barrett of Amherst, Texas, and Gerald Merrifield of Rockport, Texas; Tim Gonzales, who was raised like a brother; his "dolphin lady," Marlene Richardson, of Wolfforth, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Barrett; and a son Austin Barrett.

Memorial Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024, in Hillcrest Funeral Home's Grace Chapel in Littlefield, Texas. Arrangements were under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home.
