In Loving Memory Of July 23, 1954 ~ Oct. 10, 2022
We are sad to announce the passing of Donna Darlene Hodge of Littlefield, Texas. She died at age 68 on October 10, 2022. Donna passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her beloved husband and daughters after a four year battle with ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
Donna was born July 23, 1954 in Mt Pleasant, TX to Marvin and Bertha (Sheldon) Clifton. She grew up in Dumas, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She married her husband, Robert Hodge, of Littlefield on April 17, 1976 and has called Littlefield home since then.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Amanda Hodge of Littlefield and Shelly Tyler of Lubbock; brother, Chuck Clifton and wife, Linda of Lubbock; sister, Sandy Clifton of Amarillo; sister-in-law, Linda Kay Shadden of Littlefield; four grandchildren: Ryan Hodge of San Angelo, TX, Kaylee Hodge of Charlotte, NC, and Landon and Taryn Tyler of Snyder, TX; niece, Veronika Bryant and husband, Brandon of Vernon, TX; various other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Donna was active in Girl Scouts while her daughters were growing up and was honored with the Women of Distinction Award from the local Girl Scout Council. She also spent much of her time involved with the children's programs at First United Methodist Church when the girls were young. She worked for many years in Littlefield at J-Bar-N with Nelda, as the drive-through teller at First National Bank, the first face you saw at Dr. Roy Burk, DDS and finally with her husband in their busines Robert Hodge Trucking.
Donna enjoyed reading all types of fiction, singing, especially gospel songs and hymns, playing cards and board games, putting together puzzles and doing crafts with the grandkids. She loved her and Robert's annual trips to Kauai and Lake Tahoe and getting together with family and friends at Lake Colorado City for Labor Day Cousins Reunion.
Her advice to everyone is to make sure you don't get so busy with activities and life that you forget to enjoy your family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the ALS Association of Texas (West Texas ALS Support Group, PO Box 53333, Lubbock, TX 79453) or the Littlefield Cemetery Association (Box 1371, Littlefield, TX 79339).
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 14, 2022 at Grace Chapel in Littlefield with Pastor Terry Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in Littlefield Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
