Daisy Abeyta Baiza

Daisy Abeyta Baiza, 64, lifelong resident of Littlefield, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024 in Littlefield. She was born April 5, 1959 in Amherst, Texas to Casmino Ocana Abeyta and Maxine Rodriguez Abeyta.

Daisy was a Littlefield Wildcat through and through. She graduated from Littlefield High School, and then returned to Littlefield ISD as an employee, where she loyally served for over 30 years. She loved her students and her colleagues, and she enjoyed teaching ESL to many students over the years. Daisy was usually the first face you saw at any Littlefield Wildcat sporting event, she worked the door at basketball games for many years and the gate at football games. When she wasn't working or cheering on her Wildcats, she enjoyed spending time with family. She spent countless hours at her grandchildren's sporting events, offering her mother rides around town, or simply hanging out at a family BBQ. She loved her family more than anything. She loved her nieces and nephews as her own, and always made sure they knew it. Daisy also enjoyed dancing, she liked listening to Tejano music, and she loved her Sonic soda. She was a Catholic and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Littlefield.

Daisy is survived by a daughter, Corrie Guitron and husband, Juan 'Steak' Guitron of Lubbock; a son, BJ Baiza and wife, Tori of Lubbock; her mother, Maxine 'Meme' Abeyta of Littlefield; eight grandchildren, Anabel, Gabriel and Mia Guitron all of Lubbock, Kaitlyn Hernandez, Anaya Baiza, Ashlyn Baiza all of Levelland and Eliana Baiza and Elijah Baiza both of Lubbock; one great grandchild on the way; two sisters, Doris Gonzales and husband, Juan and Denise Abeyta Johnson all of Lubbock; three brothers, Danny Abeyta and wife, Tina of Lubbock, David Abeyta of Littlefield and Dennis Abeyta of Lubbock; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Littlefield with Father Jeff Church officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery with Gabriel Guitron, Tim Perez, David Abeyta Jr., Matthew Abeyta, Dennis Abeyta, Brandon Abeyta and Bruce Abeyta serving as pallbearers. Rosary was recited Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home of Littlefield.
