Bettie Mae (Mayfield) Lockridge was born on May 21, 1943, to Frank and Bernice (Washington) Mayfield in Neches. However, her mother and Stepfather, L.T. Williams, raised her.

Bettie accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. Bettie received a formal education from Neches ISD. On August 1, 1963, Bettie married George Allen Lee Lockridge, a Private First Class in the United States Army. To this union four children were born: George, Jr., LaWanda, Sonya, and Nathaniel. The couple spent a few years in California before moving to Levelland, Texas.

In August 1982, Bettie attended South Plains College, where she received her Licensed Vocational Nurse degree. She was a faithful member of the Morning Star House of Prayer Church. Bettie enjoyed playing the piano, doing word searches, and, most of all, reading her Bible. She was a long-time resident of Levelland before moving to Amherst in 2017.

Bettie peacefully passed away at the age of 80 on Friday, July 7, 2023. She loved the Lord and always talked about His goodness, grace, and mercy.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice; stepfather L.T.; and husband, George Lockridge; sisters, Alice Faye, Clara Jean, Helen; and brother, John, in addition to her son, George Jr.

Bettie leaves to cherish her memory: her daughters, LaWanda Norman of Littlefield, TX, and Sonya Polk of Midland, TX; son, Nathaniel Lockridge (Rosanna) of Levelland, TX; sister Ann Williams of Neches, TX; grandchildren, Anthony (Tamiqua), Shay, Brittany, Chamarae (Brent), Paeton (Yvonne), LaCreesha, Porsha, Gavyn, Margarrett, and Levi; great-grandchildren: Elias, Amiyah, Melanie, Bryson, Kieran, Kaison, Briayr, Kashton, Kymani, Arlo; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
