James Earl Kemp began his life on Sept. 15, 1958 in Amherst, TX. He was the son of the late Vernell Kemp, Sr. and Betty Jo Kemp. He was raised in Littlefield, TX where he attended school. He accepted Christ as a young man. He was the father of five children. James followed his father's footsteps and became a truck driver. The Littlefield community could rely on him for multiple handy-man skills. He was very meticulous in what he did. He was a great writer and wrote several pieces that he shared during community events and church services.

James was proceeded in death by his father, Vernell Kemp, Sr, and a sister, Diane Kemp Webster.

He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory, his mother, Betty Kemp of Littlefield; children, Kristi Kemp, Midland, TX, Darryl Kemp (Mayra), Ft. Worth, TX, Ashley Kemp, Midland, TX, James Kemp, Jr., San Marcos, TX, and Janika Kemp Simmons (Charles), Waxahachie, TX; brothers, Vernell Kemp, Jr. (Beverly), Forney, TX, Jerry Kemp, The Coloney, TX, and Randy Kemp (Goldie), Littlefield, TX; sisters, Linda Johnson, Mesquite, TX, Barbara Mitchell (George), Mansfield, TX, Teresa Sims (George) Seminole, TX, Cheryl Bivens (Phillip) Arlington, TX, Barbara Mays, Forney, TX, and Darlene Little (Darryl) Sacramento, CA; brother-in-law, Willie Webster, Houston, TX; his special friend, Helen Daniels; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

James passed away on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023. A Celebration of Life and Homegoing was held on Saturday morning, Sept. 16, 2023, at Littlefield Methodist Church. Interment followed at Littlefield Cemetery. Arrangements were under the personal care of McCarty Funeral Home in Littlefield.
