Maria Cleofas Cristan, 97, of Littlefield, Texas went to be with our Lord on January 7, 2023. She was born on April 9, 1925 in Laredo, Texas to Santiago Valdez and Petra (Zarate) Valdez.
Maria was a lifelong resident of Littlefield. She married Felix Cristan Sr. on February 2, 1943 in Sinton, Texas. Maria was a homemaker and worked at the hospital. She was affectionately known as "Ama" to those who knew and loved her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She taught herself to read, enjoyed cooking and quilting. She was a talented seamstress. Maria was a devout Christian who believed in the power of Prayer. She loved being around family and having family get-togethers. She looked forward to meeting with her prayer group for the elderly and was a faithful member of the Temple of Adoration Church.
Maria is survived by her son, Christopher Cristan of Lubbock, Texas; four daughters, Josie Villafranco and husband, Adan of San Angelo, Connie Perez of Lubbock, Corina Elizondo and husband, Jesse of Pearsall and Rachel Taunton and husband, Edward of San Angelo; twenty-four grandchildren; forty-two great grandchildren; and twenty-five great-great grandchildren; She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Cristan Sr.; son, Felix Cristan, Jr.; grandson, Randy Perez; her parents Santiago and Petra Valdez; her brothers, Pancho and Polo Valdez; and her sisters, Benita Martinez, Jovita Valdez and Victoria Castro.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday January 11, 2023 at Temple of Adoration in Littlefield with Pastor Marco Colina officiating. Interment will follow in Littlefield Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Roy Perez, Jesse Elizondo Jr., Patrick Elizondo, Jonathan Cristan, Nick Elizondo, Emily Rodriguez, Isaac Cristan, Ralph Perez, Jr., Edward Elizondo and Joe Paul Villafranco. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
