Born on the family farm on February 22, 1934 to Jack and Mae (Adams) Hurt, Wanda was very small. She was so small that the family placed her inside a shoebox, praying for her to survive. It quickly became apparent that she was strong and had a fighting will to live, and it was then she earned the nickname "Tiny" by her father, which stuck for the rest of her life. Many people in Littlefield and the surrounding areas knew Wanda as "Tiny", and she was well known for her floral design at Chisholm's Floral, where she worked for many years.

She was a hard-working woman, when she wasn't in the flower shop she could often be found lending a helping hand on the farm, driving a tractor or doing whatever needed to be done. She was also a dedicated mother, raising her three sons and was very active in their lives. She was also a wonderful "Nana" to her grandchildren and loved being involved in all their activities. She coached softball for several years at Spade and played on a traveling volleyball team. She enjoyed painting, loved to dance, and liked to travel.

She married Bob Hale on February 11, 1989, and the couple enjoyed taking many trips together before his sudden illness. Wanda was a Christian woman who loved the Lord, her family and her friends.
