Sandra Lightner Schroeder, 77, of Amherst, passed away Tuesday September 6, 2022 at home. She was born October 13, 1944 in Littlefield, Texas to Everett and Berniece (Morgan) Lightner.
Sandra married Ronnie Schroeder on June 1, 1962 in Amherst. Together the couple settled in the Amherst area, and Sandra loved her hometown. They raised three children and she was a very involved mother, active in PTA and 4-H, served as room mom, just to name a few. After having grandchildren, she became a "Marmee" which was her greatest joy, she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren more than anything. Sandra was known by everyone she met as "Marmee" and she treated them all like her own grandchildren. She was a caretaker at heart, and was always busy hosting bridal and baby showers, parties and cooking meals for anyone who was dealing with a loss or surgery. Sandra was a kind and compassionate woman who was a great listener, and she truly loved people and cared about each individual person's life story. She was a longtime member of the Amherst Church of Christ.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ronnie Schroeder of Amherst; two sons, Chadd Schroeder and wife, Nancy of Amherst and Dr. Jason Schroeder and wife, Kara of Littlefield; daughter, Shaylee Harper and husband, Chris of Littlefield; thirteen grandchildren, Morgan Schroeder, Natali Schroeder, Ceci Schroeder, Caden Schroeder, Nathan and Maddy Schroeder, Branum and Elizabeth Schroeder, Meagan and Micah Bynum, Sage Harper, Maleea and Ty Jordan, Brindle Harper and Valaree Harper; three great grandchildren, Allora, Liam and Luke Harper; a brother, David Lightner and wife, Sophia of Lubbock; and other extended family members.
Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2022 at Crescent Park Church of Christ in Littlefield with Dr. Jason Schroeder, Chadd Schroeder and Chris Harper officiating. Serving as pallbearers were her grandsons, Sage Harper, Caden Schroeder, Nathan Schroeder, Branum Schroeder, Micah Bynum and Ty Jordan. Serving as honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters, Morgan Schroeder, Natali Schroeder, Meagan Bynum, Maleea Jordan, Ceci Schroeder, Brindle Harper, Valaree Harper, Maddy Schroeder and Elizabeth Schroeder. Interment followed in Littlefield Memorial Park. Arrangements were under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
