Jan. 13, 1960 ~ Jan. 12, 2022
Lloyd Smith, 61, of Petersburg, stepped into glory to be with his beloved Savior Wednesday, January 12, 2022 in Lubbock.
Lloyd was born January 13, 1960 in Seagraves, to James Ray and Avis (Nail) Smith. He was raised in Springlake, where he graduated from Springlake-Earth High School in 1978. After attending South Plains College, he returned to the Springlake community, where he farmed for a few years, but eventually followed his love for mechanic work, which he learned from his dad. He was a mechanic for John Deere for many years.
Lloyd married Andrea Clark in 2008, and became a dad to her three sons. After briefly living in Midland, Lloyd and Andrea moved to Petersburg, where they lived for the past 12 years. They attended the Plainview First Assembly of God Church.
Lloyd loved hunting and fishing. He also loved getting together with family for a rousing game of 42. It was always a good time when Lloyd was there, he had a quick wit and an infectious laugh that you couldn't help but join in on. He especially loved spending time with his grandson, Ryker.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Ray Smith, on April 21, 2020.
Lloyd is survived by his mother, Avis Smith of Springlake; his wife, Andrea Smith of Petersburg; three sons, Matthew Roach and wife, Melody, of Washington, Jonathan Roach or Arizona, and Steven Roach of Snyder; a brother, Jimmy (Rambo) Smith and wife, Alberta of Springlake; two sisters, Ginger Carpenter and husband, Lynn of Southlake, Texas; and Donna Clayton and husband, Tommy of Springlake; two grandchildren, Abigail and Ryker Roach; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Reception will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022 in the First Baptist Church of Springlake's Fellowship Hall, from 2 to 4 p.m., in honor of Lloyd. Friends and family are invited to share in this time.
Cremation is under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy.
