Wolverines hold off Muleshoe JV, 12-9

By DEREK LOPEZ

The Springlake-Earth Wolverines varsity baseball team won the championship game of the first ever Shorty Barlow Wolverine Classic, as they took down Muleshoe’s JV team, 12- 9.

The Wolverines finshed 3-0 in tournament play with wins over Tahoka’s JV and Smyer, pushing them to 4-2 overall on the year.

“We got down against these guys, and there were a couple of times where some teams would just walk off and say I’m done with it and we used this as a learning experience,” Head Coach DJ Atwood said. “Smyer, tight game, learning experience, I have the upmost confidence going into a series this year, because our boys are ready to compete and battle and we are swinging the sticks right now.”
