Oletha Sanders, 95 of Burnet died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018. She was born Aug. 18, 1922, in Sulphur Springs to James W. and Carrie Leavelle Strickland. Oletha moved to Earth in 1940 with her family after graduating from Floydada. She met and married Marvin Sanders in April 1941. Oletha spent 26 years as the secretary to the Superintendent of Schools at Springlake Earth ISD and then 14 years as secretary of the First Baptist Church in Earth. Oletha was a member of the First Baptist Church in Burnet and in December 2003 moved to the Woodlands Baptist Community in Burnet. Surviving family include: her daughter, Pruda Fults and husband, Harold of Burnet; sister, Nita Colson and husband, Clyde of Blunt, SD; granddaughter, DeLynn Bocox of Katy; grandson, Jeff Sanders and wife, Marla of Boys Ranch; great-grandsons, Joshua Peace of South Carolina, Mark Sanders and Jacob Peace both of Katy, and Clayton Sanders of Boys Ranch; great-granddaughters, Julia Bocox and Miranda Sanders both of Katy. Oletha was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin W. Sanders; son, Marvin “Sandy”Jr.; and 10 brothers and sisters. The funeral was held Wednesday morning, Jan. 24, at the First Baptist Church and whe was buried at the Earth Cemetery in Earth, Texas.
