Church service for Albert “Al” Harrison, age 82, of Sudan, TX, was held Friday morning, Dec. 17, 2021 at First United Methodist Church in Sudan with Rev. Cam Givan of Sudan, Rev. Larry Springer of Lubbock and Rev. Kerry Hurst of Lubbock officiating. Burial was in Sudan Cemetery. Al died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021 in Lubbock, TX.

He was born the 7th of 14 children on May 22, 1939 in Curry County, New Mexico to Albert Echol and Susie Mae (Wheeler) Harrison. He married his “precious” Glyna C. Masten in Sudan on Sept. 25, 1965.

Al was a Staff Seargant in the First Armored Division of the U.S. Army and was deployed during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked as an accountant and made many lifelong friends at Sudan Central Compress, Friona Industries and Masten Estates. He was in the insurance business at WJ Insurance. Later in life he worked as a CNA for Calvert Home Healthcare. No matter what he did, he always made a friend and brought a smile to someone’s face. Al was an active member of First United Methodis Church Sudan. He loved his church and his church family. He was a Dallas Cowboy, Texas Tech Red Raider, and Sudan Hornet Fan of the highest degree. He loved Sudan and was a cherished member of the community. Most of all, Al loved his Lord and his Family. He was a devout husband, father, and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Alpha Brown and Margie Hartman; and three brothers, Johnnie Harrison, Edward Harrison and Larry Harrison.

Al is survived by his wife, Glyna; his son, Jay Harrison and his wife, Heidi of Timnath, Colorado; his daughter, Sharla Rich and her husband, Tim of Sudan; four sisters, Dottie Haynie of Amarillo, Laura Garner of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Joyce Williams of Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Kathy Dindinger of Amarillo; his four brothers, Charles Harrison of Houston, Garry Harrison of Bay City, Michigan, Rick Harrison of Amarillo, and Bennie Harrison of Lubbock; and his cherished granddaughter, Emma.
