Producer representatives to the Cotton Board and Cotton Incorporated joined cotton researchers from across Texas in Lubbock December 2-3 to hear updates on the status of cotton research being funded through the Cotton Incorporated State Support Program.

During the two half-day sessions research updates were provided on projects covering topics such as cotton breeding and genetic improvement, irrigation and fertilizer management, and insect and disease resistance.

The meeting provided researchers from a variety of disciplines an opportunity to interact with each other and also make connections with producers to learn what they would like to see in future research activities.

Harvest Progress Continues

The first few days of December were a busy time for producers throughout the Texas High Plains as the region is rapidly closing in on the completion of the 2021 harvest season.

Following the Thanksgiving holiday it is estimated that as much as 85 percent of the region’s cotton acres have now been harvested and approximately 50 percent of the crop ginned.
