Memorial services for Benicio “Bennie” Vargas, Jr., 62, of Levelland and formerly of Littlefield, who died Friday, Nov. 17, 2017 in Levelland, were scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at Jevohah’s Witness Kindom Hall in Lubbock, with an elder officiating. Head Duarte Funeral Home and Staff of Levelland were in charge of arrangements. “Bennie Vargas was born on June 9, 1955 in Amherst, to Bennie, Sr., and Isabel Vargas. He married Delia Gonzales on March 30, 1974, and they made their home in Littlefield until 1989 when they moved to Levelland. Bennie served as a Jehovah’s Witness, and was a member of the Kingdom Hall in Levelland, and baptized on Nov. 23, 1975. He was appointed as an elder on April 11, 2001. He seved 12 years as a regular pioneer, when he spoke about the Bible full time. Bennie owned BV Construction and Caribbean Ice in Levelland. He was preceded in death by his mother, Isabel G. Vargas; and a sister-in-law, Maria Vargas. Surviving are his spouse of 43 years, Delia G. Vargas of Levelland; his father, Benicio Vargas, Sr., of Littlefield; two brothers, Jesse Vargas and Carlos Vargas, both of Littlefield; three sisters, Elaine Castillo, Nora (Freddie) Martinez, and Lorraine Vargas, all three of Littlefield; and a host of nephews and nieces.
