Beginning Monday, Nov. 20, this machine will begin pouring 9 inches of concrete on top of and through a layer of rebar, which is above an asphalt layer on the improved and hardened base of Verhoeven Road. The Lamb County-owned road, formerly known as Denim Road, runs north and south between FM Highway 54 and the Santa Fe Railroad and US Highway 84, along the east side of the new construction of Select Milk Producers, Inc. The $2.5 million road project is due to be completed by mid December. Work is yet to be done over the railroad, off of Highway 84 and Delano Avenue. Lamb County received two grants to fund the special project, to accommodate the many milk trucks that will be driving on it. A Texas Community Development Block Grant, and a Federal Economic Development Grant from the Federal Economic Development Department, have been received.
