Dear friends,

I don’t know what kind of season you’re in at this moment of your life, but I can tell you that regardless of the season that you are in, Father is willing and ready to meet your needs according to His perfect will.

I’m drawn to the story of Zacchaeus, the tax collector in (Luke 19:1-10).

Zacchaeus was a tax collector.

Tax collectors were assigned a certain amount to collect for Rome but they were also allowed to overcharge for their own gain.

So we can assume that, as a “chief” tax collector, he was probably hated by a lot of people, but also had a lot of friends or acquaintances that were a lot like him.

He had obtained wealth and status in the political system and was a successful man by the world’s standard.

We see in the story that Zacchaeus had no personal relationship with the Lord Jesus, but we can assume that he had heard all the news about Him. This day Jesus was going to pass through town and Zacchaeus was desperately drawn to get a glimpse of Him, but He got more than what He anticipated!!

In (Luke 19:3-4) we read where it says - 3 And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way.

So let me ask you... What in the world was Zacchaeus thinking when he ran ahead of the crowd and climbed up a tree!?

We’re not told exactly why, but his actions show us that he was in a very desperate position!!!

No Jewish man would ever humble himself to run ahead of a crowd to make a fool of himself by climbing a tree... “unless” he had come to a place in life where he recognized the spiritual emptiness within himself and somehow knew that this Jesus whom he had heard about, could somehow meet his need!

• Maybe you’re at a point in your life where you’re just so tired of chasing after things that really never satisfy your heart.

• Maybe you’re at a point in your life where you’re tired of trying to please everyone around you but God.

• Or just maybe today you find yourself in a desperate position, just like Zacchaeus was when he climbed that sycamore tree trying to catch a glimpse of Hope even if it means you look like a fool!!

I want to tell you that you are in the right posture!!!!!

In Verse 5 we see where it says - And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”

You see friends, while people probably laughed at Zacchaeus for looking like a fool when he ran ahead of everyone and climbed that tree, his posture of “Desperation” is what caught the Lord’s attention!!!! HALLELUJAH

Let me ask you, what is your posture at this moment of your life?

Are you content with just being saved, or are you desperate for more of Him? Because friends, there is always an opportunity to draw closer and receive more of His grace and His peace, and His joy through His precious presence!

Or maybe today you are just tired of doing things your own way and you are ready to surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ.

The bible says in 2 Corinthians 6:2 —For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

So right now, yes right now! You have the wonderful opportunity to say yes to the Lord Jesus Christ and never remain the same again!!

But how “desperate” are you really?

See friends, Romans 3:23 says that - All have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God.

Romans 6:23 tells us that - the wages of sin is death,

But here’s the good news! Are you ready for this? -

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

What wonderful news! Friends, don’t let your pride keep you from responding; instead, seek Jesus with the same enthusiasm Zacchaeus did when he humbled himself and climbed that tree.

I’m telling you, you can know Him personally today, and even more, like Zacchaeus, the Lord is wanting to sit and dine with you now and for eternity!!!! Amen & Amen

With love,

Pastor Billy Montes
