The first annual Family Pumpkin Painting Night organized by the Littlefield Primary School staff and Parents of Primary was a night of fun and community spirit enjoyed by all thanks to the overwhelming generosity of organizations and individuals and the ingenuity of those who invested their time and effort to create a safe and fun event for families.

The organizers were Primary Principal Staci Sumners and Primary Music Teacher Toni Meredith along with the Parents of Primary organization arranged for music, art supplies, food, water, and pumpkins...lots of pumpkins. Lowe’s Food King generously provided 250 pumpkins for the event.

The Lamb County 4-H was on hand to distribute the art supplies for decorating and also used the opportunity to distribute printed information about their organization to the families. Flyers for the Lamb County Library’s Childrens’ Story Hour were also distributed.

Food trucks were invited to attend the event. Marley’s Meats of Lubbock, Let’s Taco ’Bout It of Littlefield, Chop Chop Rice Co. of Lubbock, and Rockin’ Ice were there to feed the crowd. The Youth group of Sacred Heart Catholic Church was on hand to serve popcorn to the pumpkin painters.

Scary Halloween music was provided by the school. A huge pumpkin grown by Toni Meredith was put up for a drawing to be held at the Littlefield Pumpkin Trail. The display included a pictorial history of “How does the Pumpkin Grow” created by Toni Meredith.

After the pumpkins were decorated the young artists could donate their artwork to be displayed in the Littlefield Pumpkin Trail or they could take them home. A trailer was provided to accept and transport the donations.

The overwhelming response among attendees was “Let’s do this again.”
