“As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:1-3

When you read a few verses like what is written above, the first thing you think is how can I live a life like that?

Of course, the answer is by following Jesus Christ and learning how the Son of God lived His life here among us. In order to do that, it takes really understanding everything about Him, and it takes the transformative power of the Holy Spirit teaching you how to become more and more like Him.

One other way that is very helpful is by seeing Christ working in and through others.

I heard a story of a little girl who was afraid of the storm outside, and asked her parents if she could sleep with them. The mommy replied go back to bed honey don’t worry Jesus will be with you.

In reply, the little girl said well then mommy if you don’t mind would you go sleep in my bed with Jesus and I will sleep here with daddy, because right now I need someone with skin on!

Isn’t that what so many of us need from time to time? Someone with “skin on” to show us or demonstrate how to live a quality life? This morning I learned of a

This morning I learned of a loss our community here at Littlefield has just suffered. That loss is of a life lived well in front our very eyes.

Longtime community supporter Jim Jones has been blessed to receive the gift of eternal life. For that promise I am very thankful! But I’m also thankful for the witness of Christ that Jim gave all of us here in Littlefield for so many years! He lived out the above scrip

He lived out the above scripture in our very eyes. His humble spirit drew you to him as well as his gentleness and patience.

As a member of the Chamber of Commerce for what seemed like forever, Jim’s wonderful personality was what many new business owners experienced as their first taste of what it would be like to live in Littlefield. I can think of no better per

I can think of no better person to show God’s love to new people than Jim Jones did! His love and passion for Littlefield was always on display which to me reflected the ideas of unity that the scripture spoke of as well.

I will certainly miss Jim and his humble, gentle loving spirit. But there is a message for all of us here. The piece of scripture was written long ago to believers in the days right after Jesus’s death. And many people took those words to heart living lives worthy of Christ. Jim Jones did as well!

Now, I urge you to take these words to heart in your own life and be Jesus with skin on to those around you wherever you end up!
