Student-athletes at Amherst ISD now have cold chocolate milk on hand after practice and competition. On Wednesday, October 7, Dairy MAX celebrated the school’s Fueled by Farmers grant: a custom- branded, glass-front milk cooler and a $2,500 chocolate milk donation.
The cooler keeps milk stocked and cold for athletes to use for performance and recovery. Chocolate milk provides a science-backed combination of carbohydrates and high-quality protein that helps refuel muscles after competition.
Local Amherst dairy farmers joined school leadership and Dairy MAX representatives at the event. They talked about how local dairy farm families connect to the students they help nourish.
Fueled by Farmers is a Dairy MAX grant program that helps schools improve access to dairy by funding the purchase and installation of milk coolers. The program connects students to their local dairy farm and supports school nutrition and daily health.
