Post City Manager visits Littlefield Rotary Club

Rhett Parker is the City Manager in Post, Texas and he is the immediate pastpresident of the club. It was during his presidency that The Rotary Club of Post celebrated their 100 Year Anniversary.

The club elected to take on a lofty idea on how to commemorate this milestone. The club raised $125,000 to construct a new courtyard in downtown, Post Texas.

The featured piece is a Centennial Clock, surrounded by stone benches that each have the 4 parts of the 4-way test engraved on them. Nice landscaping topped off the design.

The club sold sponsorships and “bricks” starting at $300. The city helped with contracting the sub-contractors including engineers. The local McCrary family donated the price of the clock, $34,000. Other families and businesses donated too. The project generated local pride and energy in town.

Rotarian Lynn Simpson also published a Club History book that was sold. Other past Rotarians and their families also donated.

It was evident that Parker was super proud of the project and the sense of community it drove. Club members congratulated him and his club on a job well done.
