I Want Jesus!...

'What do you want me to do for you? ” Jesus asked him. Mark 10:51 What do you want me to do for you? What if you were standing in front of Jesus and you heard him ask you that question? What would your response be? I want to tell you that I think there might be a whole lot of different answers depending on who the person is that was standing before him and even at what point in their lives he might be asking them that question.

For example, do you remember when you were maybe in junior high or even high school, and you longed to be older to be able to do your thing when you wanted, where you wanted and with whom you wanted? Maybe then you would have said I want to be older! I don’t know about you, but I want to tell you right now, that is not me anymore, instead I might say, “I want to be younger!” I don’t want to hear snap crackle and pop when I get out of bed! Or maybe like the man Jesus was talking to you might want to be healed.

He was blind and wanted to see. Or maybe you want a new job, or to be financially independent, or at least able to pay your bills on time!

The Voice has started up again, and after hearing those people who can really sing, I would guess that there are some of us that might say: I want to be able to sing wonderfully! My point is that most of us have some wants in our lives. They could be wants that people know or they could be something we haven’t told anyone, but want it just the same.

In the last month, I have decided to try to get on the Wheel of Fortune. I’ve watched that show for a long, long time, and often thought I should try to get on.

Recently my 87 year old mom said I want to see you on that show. Well, when she said that, I decided I’m going to try. I sent in an application video, and low and behold I got an audition. Then another one, and then another one. Each time I got another audition, something began to stir in me and I began to want to achieve this goal even more. Well, yesterday, I was praying and it hit me as I prayed that I was really wanting to do this Wheel of Fortune thing pretty bad. Then it hit me, that although I want to do that, there is something I want more. I want Jesus!

No matter what happens in my life what I want more than anything is Jesus. Yes, I would like to appear on that show, or yes I would like to be young, or yes I would like to be financially independent, and yes thousands of other things, but, there is nothing I want more than Jesus. You know, everywhere Jesus went he met people who wanted something from him.

Can you imagine how wonderful he feels when his people get to a point of saying, I want you Jesus! More than anything I want you! I think that is when you really start living well!!
